An aerial act – that is in the literally positive sense of the word the exhibition entitled "Fuzziness: Diffusion - Adaptation" by Benjamin Unterluggauer (*1989). The second resident works with air and foils. The interface and product designer finds inspiration in the collections of the MK&G, such as the inflatable iconic seat Blow from the 1960s by the Italian design trio De Pas / D'Urbino / Lomazzi. Benjamin Unterluggauer is concerned with questions of current design discourse: What criteria must design fulfill, and how does it influence society? How do designers adapt to the respective circumstances. The designer's answer is objects made of feather-light air bubbles using the least amount of material. Therefore, he builds a machine with a computer-controlled soldering iron to weld recycled plastic films with seams for inflatable air chambers. This can then be used to make furniture, mattresses and clothing. The residency program is made possible by the Fonds für Junges Design (Fund for Young Design), established in 2020 by the Stiftung Hamburger Kunstsammlungen (SHK).
