Voluntary Work

The MK&G offers a wide range of opportunities for unpaid voluntary support work. You can host our visitors, assist the curators, give concerts on the historical keyboard instruments or help out in the Bucerius Library. We are delighted about your interest! The MK&G was founded in 1877 by citizens for citizens. Its collection has grown over generations, particularly thanks to the unbroken commitment of citizens of Hamburg who donated items, made it possible to purchase them, or entrusted assets from their estates in favour of the MK&G. If you would also like to support the MK&G by a donation, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Through purchases for Hamburg's leading art museums, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg and the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Stiftung Hamburger Kunstsammlungen (SHK) ensures that Hamburg gains in importance as a cultural metropolis and keeps pace with national and international excellence.

Campe’sche Historische Kunststiftung

The foundation, established by the publishing bookseller Wilhelm Heinrich Campe in 1909, acquires works of art annually for the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe and the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

Stiftung Kulturglück

In cooperation with the Stiftung Kulturglück, we are able to offer participation to people who have no access to the art for health or social reasons. More information on the offers for people with people with special needs and the Young Cultural Creators.
