We want to make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible while observing all current legal requirements. Everything is in place for a safe visit to the museum. Please observe the relevant rules and follow the instructions of our staff.

Gerneral Information

Please only come to the museum if you’re feeling well.
Group visits are currently not possible, except for families or groups of people living in maximum two households.
Please maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters from others.
Elevators may only be used by a maximum of 2 persons at a time.
Wearing a mask covering mouth and nose is mandatory for everyone 7 years of age and over.
Please observe the general hygiene recommendations.
Under current regulations, you will be asked to submit your contact details before a visit.

Opening Hours & Tickets

Our opening times do not change. The usual addmission fees apply. Please pay with a card rather than cash if possible.


It is currently not possible to staff the cloakroom. Please use the lockers in the foyer and basement. You are also welcome to use the cloakroom in the foyer on your own, but we can assume no liability for any loss or damage to your personal belongings.
The information desk is currently not staffed
The Gerd Bucerius Library is closed until further notice.
The Walther König Museum Bookshop is open: Tuesday to Sunday, 12 noon – 6 pm.
The Restaurant "Destille" is open: Tuesday to Sunday 11 am – 4.30 pm.


All permanent and temporary exhibitions are open.
We however reserve the right to close individual rooms at short notice in case of high visitor numbers.

Events and Workshops

The children’s area and our workshop rooms in the basement are closed for now.
Within the exhibitions, all interactive stations have been shut down.
No guided tours or events are being offered at this time.
