Lin Liang zählt zu den führenden Malern im Genre der Blumen- und Vogelmalerei am Hof der Ming-Kaiser. Er malt wie in diesem Beispiel bevorzugt skizzenhaft in Tusche und setzt sich damit von dem detailreichen und farbigen Werken anderer Hofmaler ab.
