Dieser marmorne Widderkopf ist ein vorzügliches Beispiel spätarchaischer Skulptur. Während der Kopf fein und detailliert gestaltet ist, wurden die Hörner eher schematisch ausgearbeitet. Auf der Stirn und an der Unterseite befindet sich je ein rundes Dübelloch.
Der Kopf weist eine gewisse Asymmetrie auf. Seine linke Seite ist sorgfältiger gestaltet. Es dürfte sich demnach um die Hauptansicht handeln. Meißelspuren auf der Unterseite zeigen, dass der Kopf nicht Teil einer heute verlorenen Tierskulptur war, sondern als Einzelstück zu denken ist. Die Asymmetrie und die runden Dübellöcher sprechen wohl dafür, dass der Kopf einst an der linken Wange eines Thronsessels befestigt war, wie es auch bei einem Widderkopf am Thron der Demeter von Knidos im British Museum in London zu beobachten ist.
