Die englische Kunstzeitschrift "The Yellow Book. An Illustrated Quarterly" erschien von 1894 bis 1897 in insgesamt 13 Bänden. Nachdem Aubrey Beardsley seine Mitarbeit an der Zeitschrift beendet hatte, wurden die Titelillustration für die gelben Leineneinbände von anderen Künstler*innen entworfen. Die Illustration für Volume XII (January 1897) mit dem Profilbild einer blumenbekränzten Frau stammt von der amerikanischen Künstlerin Ethel Reed. Ebenso die Illustration für das Titelblatt mit einer Frauenfigur, deren Kleid blumenkelchförmig die halbe Seite einnimmt.
