Die Baseler Edition des römischen Historikers Tacitus aus der Offizin von Johann Froben ist ein prachtvoll gestalteter Druck mit ornamentalen Rahmenleisten in Holzschnitt von Ambrosius und Hans Holbein sowie Urs Graf. Der Titelrahmen zeigt oben die Varus-Schlacht und unten die Verleumdung des Apelles, die Seiten sind flankiert von den Personifikationen der Tugenden. Weitere figürliche Zierleisten und Initialen im Text, teils mit Kindergenien, welche die Künste verkörpern.
