Statuettenlekythos in Form eines Eros

Der Liebesgott Eros erscheint inmitten der grünenden und blühenden Natur. Sein Körper entfaltet sich wirkungsvoll vor der Folie der ausgebreiteten Flügel und dem Rankenwerk. Eros scheint sich - gerade aus den Lüften kommend - in einem durch den Pfeiler an seiner Linken angedeuteten Heiligtum niedergelassen zu haben.
In seiner linken Hand hält er eine Muschel, die wohl als Behälter für Salben oder Schminke diente. Das an einem Band herabhängende Kästchen in der rechten Hand erhielten Frauen an ihrem Hochzeitstag zur Aufbewahrung ihres Schmucks. Für den täglichen Gebrauch ungeeignet dienten die als Salbölgefäße genutzten Lekythen entweder als Weih- oder Grabbeigaben.
Die Rückseite wird von einer auf der Scheibe gedrehten und anschließend halbierten Eichel-Lekythos mit eigenem Fuß gebildet.
