Statuette eines ausruhenden Athleten

Dargestellt ist ein sitzender nackter Jüngling mit athletisch durchtrainiertem Körper, den Oberkörper und Kopf nach links geneigt, den linken Ellenbogen auf den angezogenen Oberschenkel gestützt und das Haupt sinnend gegen die Faust gelehnt. Sein linker Fuß ruhte wohl auf einer jetzt fehlenden Unterlage, das rechte Bein hängt entspannt herab. In seiner rechten Hand hielt er einen Gegenstand, von dem nur das obere Ende erhalten ist. Das Haar ist kurz und nicht differenziert. Ein schmales Band ist um den rechten Oberschenkel geknüpft. Die Oberflächenmodellierung ist feinteilig und nuanciert: Muskeln und Sehnen, Bauchnabel usw. sind sorgfältig angegeben.
Spuren einer ehemaligen Befestigung befinden sich in der rechten Schulterblattgegend.
Vergleichbar sind Kunstwerke des Strengen Stils (Frühklassik), z. B. die Metopen des Zeus-Tempels von Olympia oder der Athlet aus Adrano bei Syrakus.
