Statuette eines Apis-Stiers

Beim Stier mit der Sonnenscheibe zwischen den Hörnern handelt es sich um den Apis-Stier. Apis hatte sein Kultzentrum in Memphis und wurde schon früh mit dem Gott Ptah verbunden.
Nach dem Tod verschmolz Apis mit dem Gott Osiris zu Apis-Osiris oder Osirapis, aus dem sich in hellenistischer Zeit unter griechischem Einfluss der menschengestaltige Sarapis entwickelte.
In Apis vereinten sich die Zeugungskraft eines Stiers und die schöpferische Kraft von Ptah.
Der Stier ist schreitend dargestellt. Die Scheibe zwischen den Hörnern weist eine kleine Uräus-Schlange auf. Auf dem Rücken sind eine rechteckige Schabracke und je ein Flügelpaar auf Nacken und Widerrist eingraviert.
