Das Gefäß wurde ungefähr 60 km von Vasiliki an der Südküste Kretas gefunden. Unweit des Dorfes Vianni war es auf einem Acker unterhalb der Straße und einem Hügel mit zahlreichen weiteren minoischen Scherben, einem menschlichen Schädel, Hundeknochen und zerfallenden Resten von weich gebrannter schwarzer Keramik vergesellschaftet. Der Fundplatz liegt ca. 50 m über dem Meeresspiegel.
