Die viereckige Schminkpalette weist mittig nahe der Oberkante ein durchbohrtes Loch auf, das wohl zum Aufhängen diente. Die Oberfläche der einen Seite ist nahezu gleichmäßig glatt, die andere leicht gewölbt. Hier finden sich bräunliche Flecke, möglicherweise Überreste von Farbe.
Schminkpaletten sind charakateristisch für die Naqada-Kultur des 4. Jahrtausends v. Chr. Waren die Platten anfangs geometrisch geformt, folgten Objekte mit figürlichen Verzierungen an einem Ende, bevor schließlich tiergestaltige Platten auftraten. Gen Ende finden sich wieder vermehrt geometrische Formen.
Die Schminkpaletten wurden zum Zerreiben und Anrühren von Farben verwendet, die sowohl zum Bemalen von Kultbildern als auch zum Schminken eingesetzt werden konnten.
