Die Schminkpalette besitzt die Form eines Tilapia-Fisches (Buntbarsch). Durch Abschleifungen auf beiden Seiten ist die Plattendicke zum Rand verjüngt. Der Kopf des Fisches weist ein leicht vorgestülptes Maul auf, das Auge ist durch eine halbkugelförmige Vertiefung angedeutet und war einstmals wohl mit einer andersfarbigen Masse ausgefüllt. Kiemen und Flossen sind schematisch durch eingeritzte Linien bezeichnet. Die Schwanzflosse ist gegen die Rücken- und hintere Bauchflosse durch je eine keilförmige Einschneidung an der Kante der Platte abgesetzt.
Auf der Oberfläche der einen Seite ist eine große, flache, durch das Verreiben der Schminke entstandene Mulde zu erkennen, eine kleinere auf der anderen. Hier haben sich braun-schwarze Farbreste erhalten.
Schminkpaletten aus Grauwacke sind charakteristische Objekte der Naqada-Kultur des 4. Jahrtausends v. Chr.
