Persische Handschrift "Zuleikah Nameh"

Die Neuerzählung des koranisch-biblischen Stoffes gilt als herausragendes Werk aus dem Œuvre Djamis und wird auch „Suleikha-nameh“ genannt. Die Ausgangserzählung der unerwiderten Liebe Suleikhas zu Yusuf wird im Text um eine Vereinigung der beiden als Liebende und deren Tod erweitert.
Das Manuskript ist im Nasta‘aliq-Stil abgefasst. Überschriften in goldener und blauer Tinte strukturieren den in zwei Spalten angelegten Text. Auffallend sind die Illuminationen in Blau, Gold, Grün und Braun, ebenso ein vergoldetes Medaillon aus Arabesken auf dem Buchdeckel. Insgesamt sind acht Miniaturmalereien im Buch zu finden, die verschiedene Szenen der Geschichte illustrieren. Eine der Personen ist mit das Haupt umkränzenden Flammen dargestellt.
Das im Kolophon am Ende des Buches angegebene Datum der Fertigstellung der Handschrift ist vermutlich nicht korrekt. Der überaus gute Zustand und die Qualität von Farben sowie Papier weisen darauf hin, dass es sich um eine Kopie von einem älteren Meister handelt. Ein zweites Datum gibt Juli 1275 n. H. / Oktober 1868 als mögliches Datum der tatsächlichen Vollendung des vorliegenden Stückes an.
