Das hölzerne Torii ist der Eingang zum heiligen Bezirk des Itsukushima-Schreins und existiert in seiner heutigen Form seit dem Jahr 1168. In früheren Zeiten wurde der Schrein mit dem Boot durch das Tor betreten. Es ist eines der meistfotografierten Wahrzeichen Japans. (Aya Fujita)
