Auf einen dunkelblauen Untergrund wurde eine dünne weiße Glasschicht aufgebracht, aus der anschließend das Motiv herausgeschnitten und -geschliffen wurde. Erhalten sind links zwei Köpfe, die aufgrund der spitzen Ohren, Physiognomie und struppigen Haare als Satyrn, Begleiter des Weingottes Bacchus (Dionysos), zu identifizieren sind. Des Weiteren sind Reste eines bindenumwundenen Thyrsos-Stabes erkennbar.
Kameo ist die Bezeichnung für ein erhabenes, aus einem Schmuckstein oder Glas ausgearbeitetes Relief (im Gegensatz zur Gemme bzw. dem Intaglio, bei denen das Motiv in das Material eingeschnitten ist). Die aufwendige Herstellung in Verbindung mit der Zerbrechlichkeit des Materials Glas weist Kameogläser als besondere Luxusobjekte mit repräsentativem Charakter aus.
