Eros auf Gans

Eros mit Mäntelchen (griech. Chlamys) und Hut reitet im Damensitz auf einer Gans. Die Beine sind zur rechten Seite des Tieres geführt, die Arme um seinen Hals gelegt. Unter dem Bauch der Gans sind auf dem Sockel drei Reihen von Wellen angedeutet.
Auf der Rückseite befindet sich ein ovales Brennloch. Ein weißer Farbüberzug, der als Malgrund für die farbige Fassung diente, ist teilweise erhalten.
Der Eros als Gansreiter war vor allem in Unteritalien, speziell in Apulien, verbreitet. Die Gans ist seiner Mutter Aphrodite heilig.
