Die sechseckige lüstrierte Schriftfliese enthält eine Grabinschrift für Masʿūd Al Maʿrūf aus der Stadt Schiraz aus dem Jahr 967 nach Hijra/ 1560 n. Chr. Die Aufschrift des Grabsteins besteht aus einem Gebet an den Propheten Mohammed und Fatima, die zwölf Imame der Schiiten, aus Koransuren 9.21 und 28,88 sowie einem Gedicht und einer Segensformel.
Der Ursprung des Grabsteins ist nicht bekannt. Im 15. Jahrhundert stand die Lüsterkeramik bereits an ihrem Niedergang. Die japanische Kunsthistorikerin Yui Kanda identifiziert das Gedicht als Werk von Muhtasham Kashani (gestorben 1588) und schlägt Kaschan als Herstellungsort der Grabfliese vor.
