Iulia Mamaea war die Mutter des Kaisers Alexander Severus, der von 222 bis 235 n. Chr. als letzter Angehöriger der severischen Dynastie auf dem römischen Thron saß. In den Anfangsjahren übernahm sie für ihren noch sehr jungen Sohn de facto die Regierung des römischen Reiches.
Auf der Rückseite ist die sitzende Felicitas, die römische Personifikation des guten Gelingens und der Glückseligkeit, dargestellt.
