Das aus dem Stein gebohrte Gefäß weist eine zur Seite abfallende Mündung auf. Der Handwerker hat sich wohl an der Maserung des Steins orientiert.
Ursprünglich diente es wohl zur Aufbewahrung kostbarer Substanzen, z. B. Schminke, Farbe oder Parfumölen.
