Das Astrolabium hat in den islamischen Ländern bis in das 19. Jahrhundert große Bedeutung. Die Grundplatte und auswechselbaren Scheiben bilden den Sternenhimmel je nach geografischer Breite des Standorts ab. Die kunstvoll durchbrochene Scheibe zeigt den Tierkreis und die Sterne.
