Das Buch von Anatole France "La vie littéraire" ist im vorliegenden Exemplar in einem beigen Batikeinband der Buchbinderei Abdulkarim & Co. aus Buitenzorg (Java, Indonsesien) eingebunden, wie das Buchbinderschildchen auf dem vorderen Innendeckel ausweist. Der Batikeinband zeigt auf ornamentalem Hintergrund jeweils ein geflügeltes Pferd auf Vorder- und Rückseite des Einbandes. So wird das Exemplar zum Dokument des Kulturaustausches zwischen Europa und dem Pazifik.
