For more than three decades, Hella Jongerius (lives and works in the Netherlands/Amsterdam) has been among the world’s most influential designers of contemporary design. Her work spans textiles, ceramics, furniture, lighting and sculptural pieces. The exhibition, conceived by the Vitra Design Museum and presented at the MK&G, is the first comprehensive retrospective of the Dutch designer and showcases the full breadth of her practice – from early designs to recent projects. Jongerius has collaborated for many years with internationally renowned companies such as Maharam, KLM, Camper, Vitra and Ikea. This extensive solo exhibition offers insight into Jongerius’ multifaceted working methods and her experimental approach to materials, texture and colour. It explores questions surrounding the significance of craftsmanship, the symbolism of objects and the contemporary role of design in a globalised world.

The exhibition will be on view at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein from 14 March to 6 September 2026. From 23 October 2026, it will then be presented at the MK&G.
