Teaser text

In his ensemble work "Wald", Enno Poppe explores the "home of occidental civic music" with the string quartet. He tweaks the musical movement and discourse and sends four quartets on an expedition. In an orchestral set-up of video screens, this becomes a virtual and at the same time physical biotope - a concert as an audiovisual installation. 17 life-size screens and individually fed speakers in the MK&G invite you to take a walk into the work, to approach the orchestra without limits and to experience the musicians at eye level - contactless and yet up close. It was an idea that had already been circulating at Ensemble Resonanz for some time to transfer the rhetorically multifaceted and polyphonic score of Enno Poppe's work "Wald" into an audiovisual, walk-in installation. The period of limited performance possibilities during the COVID 19 crisis provided the occasion and opportunity to realise the project and thus to shape and advance the resumption of artistic work after the lockdown. The audiovisual sound installation "im wald" will be shown for the first time at MK&G, which has made two prominent rooms near the foyer available to Ensemble Resonanz.

An installation by Enno Poppe, composer and conductor; WARPED TYPE - Andreas Huck, Roland Nebe, video; Sebastian Schottke, sound direction and the Ensemble Resonanz.
