The Art of Rocket & Wink

The exhibition is the beginning of a series about contemporary graphic design in the MKG, which shows that the diversity and attractiveness of print media does not decline, even in the face of its digital competitors. With their refreshing mixture of illustration, design and text Rocket & Wink address a young audience. In particular, target groups who react towards those trends in fashion, music and urban art which are surprising and reflect the Zeitgeist. The designer team, which was founded in 2011, works for classic customers (e.g. fritz kola, smart and Warner Music) on the one hand but also for sub-cultural movements and initiatives. Furthermore, Rocket & Wink regularly produce their own and freelance work, like their magazine Whatever, each edition with a different thematic focus. Their techniques range from traditional methods like screen printing or woodcuts to digital media and virtual methods. Rocket & Wink do not just see themselves as "condiment waiters at an empty breakfast buffet", they feel at home in design, illustration, literature and product and concept development likewise. The young agency is exceedingly successful also on an international level and was awarded numerous prizes. A selection of the displayed prints and of future ones that will be shown in the series will become a part of the graphic department and the poster collection of the MKG.
