This Majlis session will focus on Arabic and Persian typography from the SWANA region (Southwest Asia North Africa). The reason for this is the special exhibition ‘Inner Structures - Outer Rhythms: Contemporary Arabic and Persian Graphic Design’. It shows how Arabic and Persian fonts connect different cultures in the SWANA region across national, religious, ethnic and political differences.

Amin Vahedi, a graphic designer from Tehran, will provide an insight into Arabic and Persian graphic design and highlight the role of typography as a means of communication and an expression of cultural identity. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to experiment with Arabic, Persian and Latin script. If you are interested in graphic design and type design and feel connected to the SWANA region, you are cordially invited to exchange ideas over tea and snacks.

In German language, and in English and Farsi if required.
