Glitter often appears in places with deep queer histories—shimmering in queer bars, shining on the streets of protest, and sparkling on extravagant cabaret and drag stages. But glitter itself is also inherently performative: it glimmers, flickers, and scatters relentlessly. It often turns the most unexpected locations into its stage—sometimes remaining unseen.

This city tour sets out to uncover St. Georg’s hidden glitter and explore its queer history. In Karl Gadzali’s studio, we’ll get an insight into the life of a wig designer and the crucial role wigs play in the stage presence of drag artists. Later, Felicia Diamond will guide us through her queer St. Georg, sharing stories from the perspective of a dragqueen.

Glitter also lingers in the cracks of buildings and streets, waiting to be discovered. Together with art historian and glitter enthusiast Sarah Steffens, we’ll walk through St. Georg, taking a closer look at the materials of the city between our stops. There will be plenty of time for conversation and personal glitter observations along the way.

The tour will conclude around 19:00 at the end of Lange Reihe / Kirchenallee corner. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to gather at M&V Bar in St. Georg to exchange ideas and impressions over a drink.

This walk is part of the supporting programme for the exhibition "Glitter".
