Influenced by the precious metal ware of the Sassanids, a plethora of exceptional bronze works were crafted in Persia. In 12th century Eastern Persia, the art of damascening became fashionable. This process allowed engravings and incisions of the embellishments could be filled with precious metal. This technique spread from Persia to Syria and Egypt. The 13th and 14th centuries represented the golden age of damascening.
