This sky-blue wool flannel suit fits a boy of roughly four years of age.  The Russian style smock has bright red insets. The cuffs, button border and pocket mouths have white rickrack trimming. The outfit is very practical – it includes two pairs of shorts for changing with matching braces. In 1925 the fashion designer Alice Haas founded the Hamburger Kinderstube, which closed in 1988. It gained a nationwide reputation for its clothing - suited to children’s needs, practical and of superior quality – which was inspired by the reforms of the time. In 1995 the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe took over the legacy of the Hamburger Kinderstube.
