The discovery of the treasures in the Egyptian King Tutankhamun’s tomb in November 1922 caused a rush of Egyptomania, which also gripped the world of fashion. This black chiffon dress’ décor of golden glass beads and sequins, coral red, pale green and blue tassels is clearly influenced by this craze. The chiffon ribbons, cap sleeves and especially the multicolour tassels display their charm fully only in movement or dance. The loose waist and knee-length shape represent the fashion of the 1920s, when women first showed off their legs and cut their hair in a bob.
