Jan Wege (*1964)2009Hamburgtombac, hollow mountedH 21,5; Ø 14,7 cm

The silversmith, Jan Wege, blurs mature handcraft skills and the will for creative design, while creating unusual interpretations of classical themes such as tableware. His designs of vessels explore new concepts within traditional craft. Like a sculptor, Jan Wege experiments with various materials. Using copper, stainless steel, tomac, and iron, he inspires new ideas concerning space and volume. His objects are uncommitted and architectural. In 2009, Wege received the Justus Brinckmann Prize, which is annually awarded on the occasion of the MKG-Arts and Crafts Fair.
