Peter Chang (*1944)2004GlasgowplasticW 16,5 cm; Ø of the opening 7 cm

The British artist and graphic designer, Peter Chang, makes jewellery that is only partially wearable. This bracelet is a case in point: it is a somewhat exotic and colourful sculpture. His work combines the influence of Memphis and Pop Art to inspire an entirely new type of jewellery. Material and monetary value have been reversed; most labour-intensive handcraft methods, such as the application of lacquer, transforms the cheapest plastic waste into a seemingly precious rarity. Chang’s pieces are unique, as an individual piece can take up to 400 hours to complete.
