Inclusion

The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg deals with the challenges of a changing society. According to cultural participation we wish to facilitate the creative and individual access to our collection and temporary exhibitions to as many visitors as possible.

The MKG offers the possibility to better hear and understand guided and audio tours. For visitors with hearing aids, we offer induction loops. Please approach the cashier staff.

Bei Fragen considering your hearing aid or Cochlea-Implantat please approach your acoustician. This offer was developed in cooperation with grauwert.

UNDERSTANDING

In collaboration with the Lebenshilfe Hamburg we have developed an "Easy-to-Read"-tour through the Art Nouveau collection. The artistically designed booklet introduces the epoch understandably and the exhibits can be explored individually. The aim is to create a comprehensive overview which awakes interest and does not require any previous knowledge. For the time being the booklet will unfortunately only be available in German.

SEEING

The Hubertus Wald Kids' World is a fantasy world where children and grown-ups can grasp the various ways design can play through selected exhibits and especially conceived scenarios. In the assisted hands-on-area people with visual impairment can grope various forms and materials and engage in design questions.

The Kids' World is open on weekends, school holidays in Hamburg and on national holidays from 10am-6pm. Tue-Fri (except for school holidays) visit is also possible for registered groups.
Group registration: Museumsdienst Hamburg, T. +49 (0)40 428 13 10.

Pilot project INCLUSION

The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg is working closely with three museums and exhibition venues to develop a modular presentation concept on inclusion and handicap accessibility at exhibitions and collections. Each project at the respective institution will present examples of how differences can be taken into account and cultural participation can be improved for all visitors. The projects, scheduled to run for three years (2015–2017), not only aim to develop new models, but also define the internal processes necessary to implement them.

The Bundeskunsthalle Bonn is the project coordinator of »Pilot Inclusion«. The partners include the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Städtische Museen Freiburg with additional support provided by the Bundesverband Museumspädagogik e.V. and the association »Blinde und Kunst«. »Pilot Inclusion« is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Art and the Media in accordance with a resolution passed by the German Bundestag, the Aktion Mensch and the Kämpgen Stiftung.
