The French graphic designer A. M. Cassandre is considered one of the most important poster artists of the 20th century.  Between 1925 and 1935, he created approximately 100 posters. He achieved this fame through the use of modern design in combination with attractive and often sensational themes. This advertisement for a luxury railway line operating between Western and Eastern Europe is a good example of his craftsmanship. Through the depiction of telephone poles at varying length, the departing train evokes both speed and modern technology.
