Gerhard von Graevenitz was one of the chief representatives of Kinetic Art. He studied physical phenomena such as light and movement, space and time. He strove to combine the structures and interactions of these phenomena within his works. In turn, his works allude to the fleeting, the possible and the future. The audience is an integral part of von Graevenitz’s creations. They needs to decide if they wants to observe the kinetic effect and turn on the mechanism. Only then, new images and visual effects may take shape in infinite sequence.
