Platforms and wedges were all the rage already in the 1940s and they come back into fashion again. In the early 1970s platforms and glam rock are inseparable. Even men were wearing colourful, chunky shoes with high heels, made fashionable by pop stars like Elton John, David Bowie or Abba. These woman’s sandals with ankle strap and peep toe are an elegant variety of this fashion fad. The soles are 4,5 centimetres thick and the heel measures 11 centimetres tall. Pop Art-stripes in highly contrasting colours make them a conspicuous accessory.
