The Hamburger artisan and carpenter Hendrike Farenholtz creates individual pieces to measure or a small series of exclusive pieces. Her pieces of furniture inevitably reflect the emotional and functional requirements of the commissioners. She executes her exquisite craftsmanship with her penchant for the material wood, while utilizing her knowledge of international furniture design to create a unique and masterful forms of contemporary aesthetic furniture. This unusual wardrobe in the form of a staircase is reminiscent of the basic form of a traditional pice of Japanese furniture, the tansu.
In 2010, Hendrike Farenholtz was awarded the Justus Brinckmann Prize, an annually awarded prize given on the occasion of the MKG-Arts and Crafts Fair.
