This timeless linen cabinet reflects a need for a simple and functional piece of furniture. In line with the ornate and grand style of the time, Biedermeier furnishings appeared in both the upper- and middle-class interiors. The sober formal language enabled the introduction of unified, ready-made goods, and allowed for progressive systems of distribution of furniture. Post-1814, Biedermeier produced aesthetic pieces that remain influential to today’s design aesthetic.
