This serving dish displays a bouquet of fantastic flowers, hyacinths and tulips. The rim has been embellished with a stylised pattern reminiscent of spraying waves. The waves have been taken from patterns originating on Chinese blue and white porcelain of the 15th century. The city of Iznik, located near Istanbul, had had a monopoly on the manufacturing of porcelain from 1490 until 1700 in Ottoman Turkey.in.
