Franz Lazi (1922–1998)Stuttgart38 black and white and colour photography

Franz Lazi obtained his education in the gallery of his father Adolf, who was one of the most famous representatives of the New Objective photography. Franz Lazi founded his own gallery in 1949 in Stuttgart and made a name for himself as a freelance photographer with object and architectural images. In addition to furniture, glass and porcelain, he also photographed everyday objects and new developments of the industry, like the colourful plastic foil of the southern German company Lonza. Under the growing influence of advertising agencies on the work of photographers like himself, Lazi turned his back on the trade in the 1960s and worked as a documentary filmmaker.
